Honest Opinion Stamp by MetalShadowOverlord Honest Opinion Stamp by MetalShadowOverlord
Trying out more bases once again. XD

While going through my favs, I came across this stamp [link] and was inspired to make this one.

I find it highly curious that, half the time, the same people who say that people should express their opinion without the fear of being persecuted are the same people who get pissy when you offer an opinion that's different from theirs.

Example:

Person 1: People should express their opinions freely without fear of persecution!

Person 2: Well, I do have this one problem with gay marriage/abortion/insert any topic here.

Person 1: GTFO Homophobe/Misogynist/insert corresponding insult here. No one cares about your opinion!

Now, I know not everyone is going to be like that, but if you're going to say people should express themselves freely, then you shouldn't throw a hissy fit when people do.

Will people say stupid things? Sure.

Does that mean you won't get offended? No.

Does that mean you should handle the situation in a bitchy manner? Of course not. (And of course you're going to slip up on occasion. Trolls will be trolls)

As far as I'm concerned, if you are offended by my views and are going to have a bitch fit, well, here: [link] At the end of the day, you're only making a fool of yourself. If you disagree and want to talk about it with civility, hey, I'm all for it. Just don't complain about getting what you asked for.

Alternative to the other stamp mentioned before: [link]

I know I can trust that your critiques will be constructive and not insulting. I'm not gonna mention this douchebag's name, but he immediately told me my artwork looks like shit when I was ranting about one stupid-ass website that rejected my work because it's not 110% professional like they expect. At least you're not like that.

Wow...  Yeah, I hate it when people are like that.  Your art might not be "professional", but it certainly isn't bad.  Heck, in many instances, it's better than mine. XD

Exactly. As long as it's just art as a hobby and not something you're planning to pitch to a video game company, I don't know why I'd waste my time putting in more work than it needs.

And I agree with you on how my artwork could use a little cleaning up. Right now, I'm planning on saving all of that time and effort for some fictional street gangs that I've been creating and drawing. I'll try and edit them to look more professional - hopefully to the standards of the box art on "Vice City" or a rookie comic book artist.

(When you see them, you'll know I was watching "The Warriors" and many reruns of "Gangland" when I came up with these ideas.) :D

So what does it mean to you when someone argues a point with you and you block them? Like you did to me?

You frog-sucking hypocrite douche.

1. You didn't ask for my opinion. I gave it (the opinion stated in the journal) because I felt like it.
2. You didn't make any points in your sorry excuse for a counter-argument.
3. You have been using "gay" and "faggot" as insults towards me despite being pro-gay rights, then call me a hypocrite (which is absolutely lulzy, by the way).
4. You will now be reported for block evading as per FAQ #96: Can I block people from my profile page?. :) Suck on it.

As much as I support that gays and straights should have the same rights in marriage, I must say that users like ~TheArtistLee fucking piss me off. There are many people like him on this site and all I can say is that it is no wonder why most of the LGBT doesn't get taken seriously. I mean, you go preaching about gay rights this and gay rights that, anti-homophobia then all of a sudden make a complete 180 by using homophobic slurs? I am sorry, but in the game of life, one must practice what they preach, otherwise your words will become devoid of any sense of logic.

That's because most of the LGBT community are much like "victimized" and "gangsta" blacks:  no one dares use a slur against them, yet they use slurs against themselves and other people all the time with no consequence.  How else do you think Dan Savage is able to hate members of his own "community", along with Christians (his famous "the Bible is bullshit" speech and his bullying of those who walk out on him), the disabled and obese while still maintaining his level of popularity (links to evidence for all this is in this comment: comments.deviantart.com/1/3183… )?

Also, ~TheArtistLee's main account is called "~Baka-Lee".  If you know what "baka" means, the irony will be stunning.

(Hint: It means "idiot" in Japanese)

Also, my opinion on marriage in general is this (copy pasted from a comment I left on a video titled "Eek! Gay People!" on youtube):

Since marriage is (at least now) a religious contract between two individuals, wouldn't it be better to get rid of government benefits for marriage? I personally feel that if we took the government out of marriage, neither Atheists nor gays would desire it since we'd already be "equal" and the Atheist doesn't need the religious/court ceremony to go with it, and if a gay person's religion forbids him to marry, there's nothing stopping him from going to another church to do it.

Sad thing is that hardly any of them have a right to pull the victim card in the first place. Hell, I have more of a right to but I would much rather not pull it. I knew one guy who got called a faggot one time in school all because he is gay, yet if he ever saw a bisexual like myself, he would ridicule them as being confused, greedy or even call them gay traitors. Sadly, I was told that this isn't as rare as some make it out to be, which baffles me because now we not only have hypocrisy in the LGBT community, but borderline reverse discrimination as well. As for the slurs, if you do not want them used against you, then empower yourself by growing a thick skin, not by keeping the words alive. One thing I learned in life is that you are most likely going to stop slurs from being used against you by letting them bounce off you. The moment you show weakness to the slur is only going to give them more ammo to work with. You depower a word, by not letting your emotions run rampant.

"Baka-Lee"? Yeah, even before I read your hint, I knew what it meant. Wow. A weaboo, huh? Why did he change the name? Did he finally realize that weaboos do nothing but stereotype the Japanese in the worst possible way which only pisses them off?

"borderline reverse discrimination"

Beg pardon, but I feel the need to correct you.  There is no such thing as "reverse discrimination", just as there is no such thing as "reverse racism" or "reverse sexism".  Racism, sexism and discrimination have no reverse, as they are all the same but to varying degrees.  I berate you for using the term since it's so commonly used, but I just needed to bring this up.

"...empower yourself by growing a thick skin, not by keeping the words alive."

FUCKING YES!  It's good to see the rare sight of someone of the LGBT with some common sense (I only know of one other person who thinks like this, although I'm sure more exist considering I've had LGBT people come onto my deviations saying how much they hate things like pride parades).

I don't think she changed it.  I think the other name is just her troll account or something.

Yeah, I heard that argument before. It is pretty asinine when you think about it. I mean, discrimination is discrimination, after all. Sadly however, when that is the term that gets shoved in your face in the most PC of college classes, it kind of sticks and sometimes you never notice it.

That is because we teach our generation to victimize themselves as opposed to toughening up. Quite sad really.

I'm actually glad you ignored the last sentence of the first paragraph in my reply, because I accidentally said, "I berate you for using the term since it's so commonly used, but I just needed to bring this up" when I meant to say that I won't. XD

Indeed.  x-x

Yep, people will ask my if "this dress makes them look big" I answer truthfully and they get mad. Because I guess they want me to say what they want to hear not what they asked for.

"you asked for my honest opinion!"

I wouldn't throw a fit for an honest opinion unless they were being unnecessarily rude and cruel about it. :/ "RECOLOR RECOLOR RECOLOR" "ur art sux" and shit. :/ If people were actually MATURE about things instead of trying to degrade someone so crudely, then I may not "throw a fit" about it.

Sooo true.... Shit, an opinion is an opinion, and if you are being polite I do not see the problem. I find it funny when people disagree with me and suddently they start cursing like crazy. I curse a lot in my daily life, not blasphemy though, but when it comes to a serious political conversation my cursing dissapears.

Labels are labels. At some point you will be labeled, but... If I do not care about the people that labels me, I do not care about his or her label.

If you have an opinion, you'd better be prepared to defend it without being dramatic, or being mutual about it. Else, you probably should have not shared it at all - those against your views are not necessarily 'evil'.

I really wish other liberals wouldn't put down the pushy representation of beliefs that I share...

"those against your views are not necessarily 'evil'."

Oh, I know, but it seems most of the time, if you even say so much as, "I disagree", regardless of how well or poorly you defend yourself, you'll get shit-stormed. I do agree with you, though, that if you're going to express an opinion, one must be prepared to defend it and be civil about it as well.
