You know those pictures of the twin towers with the words "Imagine no religion"? [link] This is my counter argument.

Religion isn't the problem. The twisting of a religion's sacred texts is the problem.

This came to mind when I saw said image recently.

well if it's any consolation it would be a good fucking start as a means to an end I would rather see it as a thing to be hidden away rather then flaunted everywhere like it actually should mean something to someone when no one gives a fucking shit about your religion, it's like a penis an ugly warty penis being flopped around in my face, I don't want to see that shit fucking put it away that's how I view religion just keep it personally to yourself and there would be no problems

You have no idea how relieved I am to finally find someone else who stands on similar grounds as myself.
It annoys me greatly when people talk down on religion as though it's the very route of all evil in the world, thus stereotyping every religion as a whole based on the much prominent religious extremists.

I partially agree ...
I think it's not only religious extremism, but also organized religion in general that should be prohibited. Nobody should have the right to force their faith on others in any way, be it ever so innocent. Everybody should be able and allowed to believe whatever he or she wants, but they should get the chance of finding that belief on their own. Nobody should have the right to influence that decision, not any organization, friends, parents, nobody.
Allowing religious organizations to exist is giving them leave to manipulate people. When you allow them to manipulate people, you give them power, and when you give them power, things like religious extremism can develop.
What we need is complete and utter freedom of faith, of thought, and we should prohibite anyone from interfering with that freedom.
