Edit: Please ignore any instances where I say "Red Sun" and "Blue Moon" insead of just "Sun" and "Moon".  I'm pretty sure this happened because people kept bitching about the games ripping off Digimon and Megaman Battle Network, both of which had games with sun and moon in their names (like Megaman Battle Network 4: Red Sun and Blue Moon). x~x  Also note that I may add to this journal from time to time.

--------------

With the reveal of the new entries to the Pokemon series, I couldn't help but get hyped, especially upon hearing the line "It all comes together".  As a result, I have decided to jot down some of my hopes and even theories as to what we might see in the new games. (Also this is going to be rather tedious since DA doesn't let non-subs post images in their journals... Fucking blood suckers).

WARNING: EXTREMELY TL;DR

- It All Comes Together -

I may be overthinking this one a bit, but this line is actually present, in a manner of speaking, in the Japanese logos for Red Sun and Blue Moon. Here are the western logos:

assets.vg247.com/current//2016…

It looks nice but it's nothing to write home about, especially in terms of what I'm trying to prove.  Now, take a look at the Japanese version:

img.photobucket.com/albums/v25…

Now THAT is looking good!  In fact, you can see elements of each generation in there (Once again, I'm more than likely over-thinking this way too far):

The logo backgrounds are red and blue.  The Pokemon text is yellowish (gold) and bluish (silver).  There's a crystal in the Pokemon text (one of which is colored like a diamond*).  The logos are a Sun (Ruby - Groudon causes the sun to shine harshly) and a Moon (Sapphire - Kyogre clouds the sky in darkness, causing torrential rain) and the word Sun is White while the word for Moon is black.  The sun is a symbol that represents life (X) and the moon/nighttime represent death (Y).

It all comes together.

*Since the reference to Gen 4 (Diamond and Pearl) I cite is a stretch, one could argue that the sun and moon being celestial objects references Pearl (since Palkia is the space pokemon) and both can be used to tell time and references Diamond (since Dialga is the time pokemon).

As for the crystal, I have no real idea what it means, but I bet it'll have to do with evolution, and possibly relate to a form of evolution like Ash's Greninja, or maybe DNA splicing (since the diamond does look like the top part of the splicers).  I base this on the fact that X and Y did something similar with the Mega Evolution symbol being in the Pokemon logo and the fact that other NPCs have talked about turning into a pokemon (heck, even Bill turned into one).  It wouldn't be the first time NPCs from previous games "foreshadowed" future features.

Another theory is that, because one of the pieces of concept art shown during the direct showed what appeared to be Red ( games.mxdwn.com/wp-content/upl… ), it has been theorized that Red Sun and Blue Moon are Kanto remakes.  I find this rather hard to believe, but it might make sense based on the whole "It all comes together" line, especially considering Kanto is where the series all began.  However, I personally think it would be cool if (and it's incredibly wishful thinking) the protagonists from the other mainstream games appear and join forces with you to put a stop to whatever evil team is lurking about, ending it off with a double battle between you and Red against the Leader and his second in command.  Or, better yet, they do like what was done in generation 5 with champions and have the different protagonists appear in various areas in the game either to interact with or battle, with Red being somewhere secluded and, of course, being the most powerful trainer you can overcome.

An even better idea would be for you to obtain the league champion, but get calls from time to time from the Elite 4 saying a challenger is waiting to face them.  You then have to go defend your title from a pool of random trainers with powerful teams which you'll need to adapt to on the spot.  If you lose, either black out or you must defeat the Elite 4 again to become champ.  I can imagine some of the trainers being protagonists and even rivals from other games.  i guess it'd be kind of like the World Champions from Black 2 and White 2, but on a smaller scale.

Like I said, extreme wishful thinking.

- Team Magma/Team Aqua Returns? -

Those who finished Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire know that Teams Magma and Aqua didn't disband like Team Rocket did, but instead reform and aid people and the environment.  I personally think that it would be awesome if they returned to help you fight against the team that shows up in Red Sun and Blue Moon, especially since the Sun and the Moon both affect the environment.  Team Magma would appear in Sun because of Groudon's affect on the sun, heat, etc.  Team Aqua would appear in moon because the moon affects the tides.  Even if they don't join you, it'd be cool seeing them make cameos and comment on certain things regarding the situation the region is facing.

- The Return of Two Teams? -

Given how X and Y ended, along with many of the mysteries left unsolved, there's a good chance that Team Flare may return in these games.  Lysandre's fate is unknown, and, while some members decided to live a peaceful life, there are some members who are still rather, well, unsavory.  Malva and her butler admit to being admins (although Malva doesn't actually state her rank, her butler does.  It is implied she had a high place in the group since she has classified information), of instance.  I don't think Lysandre is dead, though, as his link to AZ seems a bit too important for him to just be let go like that.

I base their return on the anime (which admittedly, I barely watch, but have friends who talk about it often), in which Team Flare possesses not Yveltal or Xerneas, but a Zygarde core.  Zygarde is a pokemon which still has a great deal of mystery about it, and it's possible it will have some significance in Red Sun and Blue Moon.  more on that later.  There's also the fact that it is hinted that Team Flare could have owned Volcanion, a pokemon that was officially revealed in December 2015 (although he was leaked sometime in 2013, if memory serves), since Volcanion, supposedly, as one of the causes of the Lumiose City blackout.  We know in game that Team Flare was messing around with the power plant, but that doesn't mean Volcanion didn't play some role in it or in Team Flare's plans.  After all, if they're competent enough to find Xerneas and Yveltal, there isn't much standing in their way against getting Volcanion.

There's also the fact that Volcanion is worshiped as a god in Southern Kalos.  More on that later.  However, it's also possible that Volcanion is a pokemon that is merely to have significance in the movie and not the games, like Hoopa.

That was one team, so what about the second?  Another possible team that could make an appearance is Team Galactic.  How?  Well, we haven't gotten remakes of Pearl and Diamond, so Team Galactic hasn't appeared in this "timeline", if you will.  The Sun and Moon are both celestial objects, so it's possible that a team dedicated to things involving space (and time) might try to use them somehow.  It could also be a team derived from Team Galactic, like how there's Team Plasma and Neo Team Plasma.  There's also Cyrus's name...

In every language Pokemon Pearl and Diamond have been released in, except Japanese, Cyrus's name has to do with the sun.  His Japanese name, Akagi (アカギ), refers to the color red.  The name Cyrus comes from the word Kuros, which means sun.  However, what's really interesting is his Korean/Mandarin Chinese name, which is Taehong (태홍) and Chiri (赤日) respectively.  What do those translate to?

Red Sun.

- Zygarde's Chest -

Zygarde may be a pokemon with significance in Red Sun and Blue moon given the colors on his chest.  assets.pokemon.com/assets/cms2… If you look at the colors on his chest, you can see 5 colors - Blue, light blue, white, orange and red.  People have often linked blue and red to Xerneas and Yveltal, or just X & Y, but the light blue and orange colors are the same colors used for Red Sun and Blue Moon.

- Location, Location, Location -

There has been a lot of talk as to where Red Sun and Blue Moon will take place.  As stated before, some have guessed Kanto, which I don't agree with. I think, given some of the reasons above, it may take place in South Kalos.  However, given the Strange Souvenir, and the fact no one has been able to identify it as anything that looks like an existing pokemon, the region will probably be outside of Kalos and, possibly, outside of Europe, since the souvenir says that the pokemon it represents is "venerated as a protector in some region far from Kalos".

- Mega Evolutions -

Let's face it - we're all excited to see what new mega evolutions Game Freak is (hopefully) going to create.  I'm looking forward to seeing the Johto and possibly Sinnoh starters get megas, especially since we saw Kanto's and Hoenn's starters get ones.  I can imagine Lunatone and Solrock getting megas too, possibly even Starmie.  I say Starmie because, like Solrock and Lunatone, Staryu and Starmie come from space.  Given that logic, I might as well guess Beheeyem, since it's based off a traditional alien, along with Cleffable and Wigglytuff.

Another one both and I, apparently, many others wish to see is a Mega Froslass.  I can't see this not happening given how Gardevoir and Gallade got ones, as did Glalie.  Also, given how Froslass is the only other pokemon to evolve with a Dawn Stone, it'd be rather odd if it didn't.  I might be in the minority on this one, but, ever since I saw that fake image, I've also been hoping for a Mega Weavile.  Hey, it'd be a nice compliment to Mega Houndoom.

I can also imagine Cresselia and, possibly, Darkrai getting megas, especially since Cresselia is based on a crescent moon.

- A Dark Type Gym -

Because we've all been pining for one since Gold and Silver.

I've been trying to think of ways for a Dark Gym to work.  I've come up with two ideas:

1) Haunted House - Yeah, it sounds like something that would be more fitting for Ghost types, but haunted houses are based on a fear of the dark.  I can imagine the trainers using pokemon like Houndour, Sableye, Sneasel, Murkrow, and possibly some ghost types.  The Leader might use pokemon like Spiritomb, Houndoom, Honchkrow, and Umbreon.

That might seem a bit lackluster, so here's one that might pique your interest:

2) Noir Studio - The leader is an actor/film enthusiast and made his gym based on his favorite noir film. You'd battle against the "underlings" of a "crime lord", based on scenes from the film, and eventually work your way up to the "crime lord" (Leader).  The trainers and leader are all in character, as if they were in a movie themselves, and break character when defeated.  The leader would comment before the battle about how he built his gym around his favorite movie, etc, but then realize he's out of character and start the battle.

Neither of those might seem like good ideas, but I'm not really sure what gimmicks a Dark Gym might have aside from putting you in pitch darkness and forcing you to feel your way around the gym a la Fuchsia City.

- Conclusion -

I could go on all day with this, so I'll just leave you with this question to ponder for the next 10 months until these new titles are released:

Will you shoot for the moon?
Or shine bright as the sun?

== BONUS ==

Well, since you were good and read this entire thing (or just skipped down here), check out these legendaries for Red Sun and Blue Moon that were recently leaked:  img.photobucket.com/albums/v25…  And people say Game Freak are running out of ideas...
